The Ages and Stages Questionnaires® is a screening tool that can be used to screen infants and young children for delays during the crucial first five years of life. ASQ® Online, administered by Brookes, is a data management system that helps early childhood programs collaborate with families to complete developmental and social-emotional questionnaires (ASQ-3 and ASQ: SE-2) in an online platform. With philanthropic support from the John and Janice Wyatt Foundation, Fairfax Futures launched the ASQ® Enterprise (for multiple sites) in 2021 to assist early childhood programs in streamlining their workflow and reducing paperwork. Through these screenings, educators continue to ensure that all children enter kindergarten meeting age-appropriate developmental expectations. Fairfax Futures supports center based and family child care homes with resources such as instructional videos and on-site technical assistance.
Recently, Fairfax Futures conducted a video interview with Dr. Doyna Illmer, Senior Director and Roselyn DeOliveira, Lead Teacher of the Columbia Baptist Child Development Center (CDC) in Falls Church, VA. Check out the below video segments to learn more about how this early childhood center has adopted widespread usage of the ASQ to screen for developmental delays in young children. Since the program began using ASQ® Online in 2021, they have completed a total of 709 screenings. Their lessons learned are captured in Spanish.
