Fairfax Futures is pleased to announce a $7,500 grant award from Wells Fargo. This new Family Child Care Business Development Grant will be used to purchase materials that Fairfax County residents need to pass the family child care permit inspections that are conducted by the Office for Children and the Fire Marshal’s Office. The inspections are the last part of the permit process after applicants have completed all other requirements. Fairfax Futures will partner with the county’s Office for Children to provide kits to residents who have completed all steps, other than the two inspections. These kits will include materials such as first aid supplies, carbon monoxide and fire alarm detectors, and safety items such as cabinet latches and outlet covers.
“At a time when early childhood education is needed more than ever for families across our community, we are grateful to Wells Fargo’s support in helping to lower barriers to entry for family child care educators,” says Cathy Lange, Fairfax Futures Board Chair. By reducing the financial burden, this project will help to make the permitting process more seamless so that applicants can focus on being successful in their new business and strengthen the quality of their programs for children and families.
