New State Plans for Child Care Subsidies

New state rules are expected that will protect quality and continuity of care for children from low-income families. In particular, eligibility for subsidized child care will extend to 12-months, even in the event of a parent’s temporary job loss or temporary change in participation in a training or education activity. Continuity of enrollment leads to better outcomes for children from low-income families. Virginia’s draft plan is available online.
