Fairfax Futures, in partnership with the county’s Neighborhood and Community Services/Office for Children, is hosting its 19th Annual School Readiness Symposium on Saturday, April 29, 2023, at the Fairfax County Government Center. After three years of virtual programming, we are thrilled to come together for an in-person event.
Our keynote speaker, Mimi Brodsky Chenfeld, is a teacher, author, and consultant who began her career in New York in 1956. She is the author of the books Teaching in The 'Key of Life’, Teaching By Heart, Celebrating Young Children and Their Teachers, Still Teaching in the 'Key of Life’, and Creative Experiences for Young Children, as well as numerous articles on creative education.
Mimi wishes for children to experience learning environments overflowing with peace, love, kindness, and joy. Using visual art, music, dance, and story to infuse the joy of learning, Mimi continues to inspire teachers, parents, and children of all ages. Her lifelong commitment to “Teaching in the ‘Key of Life’” is affirmed by her favorite student evaluation from a six-year-old boy who dubbed her "The Queen of Fun!" Come with open minds and hearts prepared to enjoy this celebration of early learning.
The Symposium will also feature breakout sessions that support strategies for creating successful partnerships between families, educators, and the community.
This event is made possible through a generous grant from the PNC Foundation. It is offered to early childhood educators in Fairfax County.
