FAIRFAX FUTURES ANNOUNCES GRANT AWARD FROM THE PNC FOUNDATION
Funding will support the Annual School Readiness Symposium

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA, September 4, 2024 - Fairfax Futures has received a $20,000 grant from the PNC Foundation. The funding is the second installment of a multi-year grant from PNC to fund the Annual School Readiness Symposium, Fairfax Futures’ signature event for early childhood educators in Fairfax County. The Symposium is a full-day learning experience with renowned speakers and important resources to help educators thrive in their chosen fields.
“PNC has been a valued collaborator in this work for many years,” said Sallyann Rodriguez-Sawao, executive director of Fairfax Futures. “We are thrilled to have their support in our community, especially in an area as critical as early childhood education.”
Now moving into its 21st year, Fairfax Futures hosts the Symposium with Fairfax County’s Neighborhood & Community Services to support a day of learning and networking for hundreds of early childhood educators, many of whom work in programs in low-income neighborhoods.

Together, we empower educators to create enriching learning environments that lay the foundation for lifelong success,” said Deidre Stewart, assistant director for Fairfax County’s Community Education and Provider Services.
“Through a comprehensive approach of grant funding, employee volunteerism, awareness and advocacy, PNC Grow Up Great® supports families, educators and community partners by providing innovative opportunities that enhance learning and development for our youngest community members, setting a path for success that lasts a lifetime,” said Jermaine Johnson, PNC regional president for Greater Washington and Virginia. “This is why we continue to fund Fairfax Futures during its annual Symposium.”
Since 2004, PNC Grow Up Great has helped prepare children from birth through age 5 for success in school and life, supporting programs, resources and experiences that plant the seeds for a lifetime of opportunities.
To date, PNC Foundation has awarded $247 million in grants to nonprofits, like Fairfax Futures, to help advance high-quality early childhood education.
